Bile Duct Stones
Stones in the Intrahepatic biliary tree (Hepaticolithiasis) or Extrahepatic biliary tree (Choledocholithiasis) may block the flow of bile from the liver — a more serious condition than simple gallstones, often causing jaundice. If the stone is in the Intrahepatic biliary tree, it may cause repeated infection, liver abscess, liver atrophy, or even carcinoma if not treated in time.
Symptoms
—Yellowing of skin/eyes (jaundice)
—Dark urine, pale stools
—Fever with chills (may indicate infection)
—Upper abdominal pain
